Council Plans for Regeneration

Canterbury City Council has great plans for central Herne Bay.

The following PDF documents provide the background and details of the proposals:

Masterplan Proposals March 2011

Covers the early phases of Herne Bay’s regeneration, concentrating on the Central Development Area. Work should start in early 2012 and be completed during 2014.

The £30m - 35m Master Plan Proposals have been prepared in partnership with Denne and Coplan Estates and provide Canterbury City Council with a framework for the future of this key part of Herne Bay.  It is the aim of the Master Plan to provide a new thriving retail hub, two public squares and a significant investment into the town’s economy.

What is My Flat Worth?

Zoopla may have the answer.  It gives sold house prices in Herne Bay  since 1995.  Unfortunately, or fortunately if you happen to own one, well maintained properties along Central Parade are like gold dust so there aren’t many prices available. But if you go to Zoopla and key in CT6 5HZ you can see past and current values of properties that came onto the market and were sold.

If you bought your flat after 1995, it should be listed, and Zoopla will estimate its current value based on the price you paid for it.

If you purchased your flat before 1995, then consult the Nationwide House Price Index which dates from January 1973. Again, it will give you an estimate of the current value of your flat based on the price you paid for it.

Canterbury City Council - Heritage & Conservation

The Council's conservation services cover the historical, architectural, planning and surveying disciplines relating to historic buildings, areas, projects and research. A major part of this work is the repair and restoration of historic buildings and survey and designation of conservation areas. The Conservation officers also give specialist advice on conservation issues, either direct to owners or as part of the general planning system. This includes applications for listed building consent for alterations or extensions, as well as planning applications for alterations or extensions to buildings and new development in conservation areas.
